Pavlo at Roy Thomson Hall

Pavlo put on a monumental performance for a full house at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on February 24, 2012. Pavlo is a sensational Mediterranean guitarist who is truly a world-class performer, so it's easy to understand why this was a sell out event. What should also be said is that he is a very kind and generous man, who was nice enough to share his stage with the likes of John McDermott, Mark Masri, Brownman, James Mann, the Paganini Strings, Zembekiko Dance, and many others. Truly an amazing lineup! The highlight of the evening for me, however, was Pavlo's beautiful guitar duet with his wonderful daughter Dimitra performing "Love You Forever"!

I would like to thank Pavlo and Sandra for their kindness and generosity, and for inviting me to help cover this incredible event for them. It goes without saying, if you ever have a chance to see Pavlo live don't miss out... as it will be a performance you won't soon forget!

Motus O

Motus O thrilled grade 1 and 2 students at the River Run Centre, as part of the Linamar Performing Arts series, with their exciting performance of Circus Terrifico. As described... "With its signature physicality and humour, dance troupe Motus O performs Circus Terrifico, a whimsical and poignant story about three circus performers who create an impromptu show with a little magic, juggling, tight-rope walking and fortune-telling while stranded at a train station." By the reaction of the kids in attendance, it's safe to say that all had a wonderful time and a performance by this group should not be missed.

James Hill

Okay... so forget everything you ever thought you knew about the seemingly innocent and reserved Hawaiian instrument named the Ukulele. James Hill defied all conventional thinking and thrilled grade 3 and 4 students at the River Run Centre (as part of the Linamar Performing Arts series) with his world class virtuoso talent on this 'mini-guitar'. Can you a play classical song like 'Ave Maria' on the Ukulele? Yup! How about rock songs like 'Smoke on the Water' "Sweet Child O' Mine' or 'Thunder Struck''... you bet! How about Hip Hop, Techno, and even a classic video game theme like 'Super Mario'... but of course! It seems that there's very little if nothing that James can't play on this wonderful little instrument. Catch a performance by James Hill and you'll be just amazed!

Mark Masri

Power, intensity, and passion are all words that come to mind when I think back to the incredible performance Mark Masri put on at the Rose Theatre in Brampton, Ontario on December 20, 2011. This was easily one of the best vocal performances that I've ever experienced. Mark is a rising Canadian vocal star, and has worked with the likes David Foster, Olivia Newton-John, Jon Secada, Jim Brickman, Amy Sky, and the amazing Mediterranean guitarist Pavlo. Actually in this show Pavlo joined Mark on stage for the song 'Fragilidad', which thrilled the audience! Mark also sung songs in Italian (including 'Parla Più Piano' or 'Speak Softly Love') with such clairty, feeling, and control that I was deeply moved.  All I can say is that if you ever have the opportunity to see Mark Masri live, please do as it will be a performance you won't soon forget!

Czech Boys Choir

The Czech Boys Choir put on a very fine performance of classic choral and traditional holiday music for local Grade 5 elementary school children at the River Run Centre as part of the Linamar Performing Arts series. These young lads are a true inspiration, and show how music and the human spirit can transcend  any distance or language barriers. A performance from these fine young men should not be missed!

Pavlo in London

Pavlo played to a very receptive full house at the Aeolian Hall in London, Ontario on November 26, 2011. He once again put on an incredible show, engaging with the audience and making sure everyone had an amazing time. Through his Greek-Mediterranean & Spanish-Flamenco inspired sound, its easy to see why he truly is a world class performer and is so beloved by his fans. Pavlo in Alliston

'Mediterranean magic' is the best way to summarize a performance by Pavlo. Looking at the above image from his recent performance at the Gibson Centre in Alliston Ontario on November 17th, 2011, it's easy to see the passion and love he has for his craft. The audience was very appreciative of his music and talent, and he was just as thankful for them being there. If you ever have the opportunity to see Pavlo and his band perform live, I highly suggest that you do so!

Ron Sexsmith

The critically acclaimed Ron Sexsmith performed at the River Run Centre in Guelph on October 21, 2011. What can I say about Ron that hasn't already been said; to me he is our generation's Bob Dylan. His masterful lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies capture both the mind and the heart. If you have the opportunity to see him perform live I highly suggest you do so; it will be a concert expereince you won't soon forget.

Colleen Hixenbaugh

The very talented Colleen Hixenbaugh opened for Ron Sexsmith at the River Run Centre on October 21, 2011. I would decribe her music as Canadian pop-folk; with heartfelt words, relaxed yet upbeat melodies, and a beautiful voice.
